About Missouri SNAP Benefits
The Family Support Division inside Missouri's Department of Social Services decides each case from offices statewide. myDSS, the state's online hub, accepts applications and document uploads around the clock.
Missouri sticks to standard federal income rules without broad-based expansion, so gross income must stay under 130 percent of poverty for most households. Deductions for shelter, utilities, and medical costs still lower countable income.
Benefits arrive between the first and twenty-second of the month according to the birth-month and last-name matrix. A family of four can receive up to $1,023 in FY2027, while one adult draws $306.

The Numbers That Matter — Missouri SNAP at a Glance
Missouri has the most unusual deposit schedule in America: your EBT day depends on a combination of your birth month and the first letter of your last name, spreading deposits across the first 22 days of every month. The state also sticks closest to the standard federal rulebook — 130% gross income, 100% net — with no expanded BBCE income band. This guide covers the FY2027 amounts effective October 1, 2026, the full official deposit matrix from the Missouri Department of Social Services, and exactly how to apply through Family Support Division (FSD).
What Is SNAP in Missouri?
The Missouri Department of Social Services, Family Support Division (FSD) runs SNAP statewide. Benefits load onto an EBT card accepted at Walmart, Schnucks, Dierbergs, Aldi, Hy-Vee, Price Chopper, Save A Lot, and most independent grocers and farmers markets. Missouri cardholders manage accounts at mydss.mo.gov or the EBT customer service line, and can check balances, transaction history, and deposit dates online any time.
Eligibility: Missouri applies the standard federal income tests — gross income at or below 130% of the federal poverty level and net income at or below 100% FPL — as published on the FSD Benefit Program Income Limits page. Unlike its neighbors Illinois (165%) and Nebraska, Missouri has not expanded its BBCE gross income band beyond 130%, and some households may need to pass a resource check depending on their circumstances. If someone in your household is 60+ or disabled, the gross income test doesn't apply — you qualify on net income alone, which effectively raises the ceiling for fixed-income seniors.
Missouri also runs the SNAP Employment & Training (E&T) program free for recipients, and participates in Double Up Food Bucks at farmers markets in St. Louis, Kansas City, Columbia, and Springfield — matching SNAP dollars spent on Missouri-grown produce.
Missouri SNAP Income Limits FY2027 (October 1, 2026 – September 30, 2027)
FSD applies these federal standards from October 1, 2026. Households with an elderly (60+) or disabled member skip the gross test:
| Household Size | Gross Monthly Income (130% FPL) | Net Monthly Income (100% FPL) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | $1,729 | $1,330 |
| 2 | $2,345 | $1,804 |
| 3 | $2,960 | $2,277 |
| 4 | $3,575 | $2,750 |
| 5 | $4,191 | $3,224 |
| 6 | $4,806 | $3,697 |
| 7 | $5,421 | $4,170 |
| 8 | $6,037 | $4,644 |
FSD's older published pages still show FY2026 annual figures ($20,352 gross for a single person). The monthly FY2027 figures above supersede them — if a notice letter quotes different numbers, ask your caseworker to confirm which fiscal year was applied, because the October 1, 2026 update raised limits by roughly 2%.

Deductions That Raise Your Missouri Benefit
Standard Deduction
$217 for households of 1–3, $229 for 4, $268 for 5, $308 for 6+ (FY2027).
20% Earned Income Disregard
Applied to all gross earned income before other calculations — the biggest deduction most working Missouri households never realize they're getting.
Dependent Care
Childcare or adult daycare costs that enable work or training, with no dollar cap.
Excess Shelter
Shelter costs above half of adjusted income, capped at $769 in FY2027 — uncapped for households with 60+ or disabled members. Missouri winters make heating costs count through the utility standard, so submit your utility bills even if heat is included in rent at a flat rate.
Medical Above $35
Out-of-pocket medical expenses over $35 monthly for 60+/disabled members — prescriptions, premiums, dental, transport to appointments.
Missouri EBT Deposit Schedule — Birth Month + Last Name
Missouri is the only state that keys deposits to your birth month and the first letter of your last name. Benefits post at 6:00 a.m. on your assigned day, which runs from the 1st to the 22nd:
| Your Birth Month | Last Name A–K | Last Name L–Z |
|---|---|---|
| January | 1st | 2nd |
| February | 3rd | 4th |
| March | 5th | 6th |
| April | 7th | 7th |
| May | 8th | 9th |
| June | 10th | 11th |
| July | 12th | 13th |
| August | 14th | 15th |
| September | 16th | 17th |
| October | 18th | 19th |
| November | 20th | 21st |
| December | 22nd | 22nd |
This schedule never changes month to month — your day is fixed for as long as your case stays open, even across recertifications. Households approved mid-month receive a prorated first deposit on their assigned day.
Work Requirements — the ABAWD Time Limit
Missouri enforces the ABAWD time limit for able-bodied adults 18 through 64 (the upper age was raised from 54 by the 2025 federal law) without dependent children: 3 months of benefits in any 36-month period unless you work or train 80+ hours a month, participate in Missouri's SNAP E&T program, or qualify for an exemption — veteran status, homelessness, pregnancy, medical unfitness, or former foster youth ages 18–24. FSD sends a notice before your time limit runs out; respond to it or your benefits stop automatically, and unused ABAWD months don't refund.
